I'd also consider giving the printer a good 30 minutes to cool down after any long (overnight) prints, to maximize its longevity. It'd be worth looking in to some details on good maintenance practices with Nema motors (if, when, and how they should be lubricated). As long as the motor is well lubricated, it shouldn't create excess heat. It's still below the deformation point of PLA plastic (?), and the casing of the Nema's don't appear to be 3d printed. Upload and share their 3D models to other people who use the same printer. Push the tool through the top of the nozzle until it hits the bottom and leave it in that position. The software provides 2 major functions, 1 Slicing 3D models and send the data to Cetus printer for printing. The motors we're only seeing the surface temperature, so inside it is probably hotter. Cetus3D is required for the operation of our 3D printer Cetus. Raspberry Pi likes), their CPUs hover around this same temperature. :)įWIW, many Single Board Computers (i.e. I'd like to avoid downtime as much as possible. Mind you I am super paranoid about redundancy, and this is my only 3D printer. The manufacturer of Cetus3D has been working hard to provide the best with the customers’ feedback. I'm guessing you're testing the surface temperature using a infrared thermometer? It does make me think I should have a spare motor on hand, but I need to be sure it's the exact same model (motor in the extruder seems to be a slightly different model). Ender-3 V2 Main Feature: 4.3 Inch Color LCD Screen, 32-bit Silent Motherboard, Carborundum Glass Platform, UL Certified Meanwell Power Supply, Print Resume Function, 220 x 220 x 250mm Print Size Creality Ender-3 V2 is great at your Best budget 3D printer. Thanks to the magic of open standards, I was able to add multicolor capability to my old single-extruder printer.Hard to say. One nice thing about the Palette+ is that it can be used with more than one printer, so I've been experimenting with getting it to work with my Cetus.Īnd after a couple weeks, and convincing the Palette's manufacturer that they really should support the TierTime printers, it works. ![]() There have been some customers reporting significant problems with Prusa's older model of MMU, and it seems like it's still very experimental. I bought a Palette+ to give me more options for multicolor printing than just the Multi-Material Upgrade by Prusa. A case in point is the Palette+, a filament splicer for making prints with multiple colors and materials. One huge advantage of stepping into the open source printing world is I now have access to tools and accessories I couldn't use before. "Gcode" is a nearly-universal format for the printing instructions.) (For those not familiar with 3D printing lingo, the "slicer" is the program which takes a 3D model and turns it into gcode instructions for the printer, sort of like a print driver in the 2D printing world. While a clogged nozzle seem like an instant replacement problem with your 3D printer, you can get them unclogged yourself without having to buy a new nozzle. ![]() Fortunately, TierTime recently opened up their hobby printers to accept gcode from other software, allowing me to experiment with using Slic3r with my existing printers. ![]() My new Prusa 3D printer kit is supposed to arrive next week, about three months after I preordered it.ĭuring that long wait I've been learning some of the software used in the open source printer world, including Slic3r, the slicer that's been customized to work with the Prusa printers.
